Since 1999, Gary been working as an consultant, expedition leader, and university instructor. His career highlights include co-developing the University of Idaho’s McCall Outdoor Science School, leading expedition teams in Alaska, the Yukon Territory, and Patagonia; and instructing a leadership expedition for the United States Naval Academy for the National Outdoor Leadership School. Recently, he co-created the West Central Mountain Leadership Academy for the McCall Area Chamber of Commerce.

Karie has over a decade of working on community development issues, conflicts and collaborations both internationally and in the U.S. She believes sustained collaborative processes in conjunction with effective policy are the future of natural resource governance and management. Karie enjoys facilitating a range of complex, multi-party decision-making and consensus-building processes on topics including land use, agriculture and development, water resources, wildlife, and energy development issues. Karie informs her professional activities through her socio-environmental research and teaching, attending conferences to stay informed of the latest collaboration practices and theories, and by maintaining a healthy recreation habit.
